What is SupplementMD

SupplementMD is research-based supplement intelligence, backed by physicians.

It builds you a personal daily plan for your goals from the peer-reviewed evidence, screens every pick against your medications, conditions and allergies, and explains why each one is there. Available on iOS and Android.

The problem

Most routines are built on podcast tips and label promises.

Miracle pills. Shaky studies. Someone on a forum who swears by it. Supplements are the only thing we swallow every day on evidence like that — and three questions deserve better.

  • “Am I taking the right things?”

The stack your favorite podcaster swears by was built for their body, their diet, their goals. Not yours.

  • “Is it safe with my medications?”

St John’s Wort weakens thyroid medication. Vitamin K pushes against blood thinners. These interactions are documented — but nobody reads the interaction literature at the vitamin aisle.

  • “Is any of it actually working?”

You’ve been taking that bottle for four months. Do you feel different? Would you know?

How it works

Five minutes of honest questions. Then the app does the reading.

  1. Tell it what’s true for you.

Goals, conditions, medications, allergies, diet, caffeine, sleep. Every question tells you why it’s being asked. No account needed, and nothing is saved until you’re ready.

SuppBuddy, the app's guide, looking curious

    Hi, I'm SuppBuddy

I'll ask a few questions, then build your plan. Just tell me what's true for you right now.

  2. Get a plan with the why attached.

Medical foundation first, then support, then your goals. Every pick shows how it fits your profile, the evidence behind it, and a dose set for your age, sex, and weight. Don’t like one? Swap it for a vetted alternative.

  3. Then watch whether it’s working.

Reminders timed to your real day, one-tap logging, and thirty-second check-ins. Connect Apple Health and the app tells you, in plain language, what changed.

The library

Look anything up. Get an answer about you.

Over a thousand supplements and more than a hundred health topics, written from the research and cited to PubMed — with evidence-strength badges, so “promising” never gets to dress up as “proven.”

Safe for you

The same Licorice Root Extract page for a reader with hypertension and coronary artery disease: the “For your health profile” panel now reads “Avoid”, and lists both conditions with the reason — glycyrrhizin raises blood pressure and promotes fluid retention

Avoid

Same supplement, same page, two profiles. Licorice raises blood pressure — so one reader gets a dose, and the other gets the reason not to.

  • A verdict, not a summary

Every supplement page ends on one of five calls — great fit, good fit, safe for you, use caution, avoid — with the reasoning underneath, not a wall of research you have to adjudicate yourself.

  • Scan the bottleComing soon

Point your camera at any barcode and see what’s actually in it — label claims next to the evidence, and whether it belongs in your plan.

  • Protocols worth adoptingComing soon

Multi-supplement protocols from recognized health authorities — adoptable into your stack in one tap, safety-checked on the way in.

Where the answers come from

From 40 studies to one number.

Nothing in the app is an opinion wearing a lab coat. Every recommendation carries four signals, each traceable to the studies behind it, and all of it is reviewed by medical doctors. Here’s one topic, read from the research.

What each row is telling you

  • Effectiveness

    82%

How strongly the studies support this supplement for this topic — the one number the rest of the row earns.

  • Evidence grade

    A · Strong

How solid that evidence is, from A down. Thin or mixed research gets labelled thin or mixed — never rounded up.

  • Studies

    40 studies

How many papers were read to get there.

  • Best study type

    Meta-analysis

The strongest design in the pile — a meta-analysis outranks a single trial, which outranks a case report. Every row links to its sources, so you can read them yourself.

Safety-first recommendation engine

Ten checks before anything reaches your plan.

Every recommendation — and everything you add yourself — is screened against a clinical interaction database covering 103+ medication classes. Not a disclaimer at the bottom of the page. A screen, before, every time.

Safety review10 checks

  1. Medication interactions

Cross-checked against your actual medication list — not a generic warning label.

  2. Supplement–supplement conflicts

Pairs that compete, cancel out, or amplify each other.

  3. Upper dose limits

Flags anything above established safe intake levels for your profile.

  4. Cumulative dose

Totals your intake across every source you take — not per bottle.

  5. Allergies

Scans the full ingredient panel: excipients, capsule material, flavorings. Hidden allergens are easy to miss.

  6. Your conditions

Excludes what’s contraindicated for the conditions you told us about.

  7. Pregnancy & nursing

Population-specific warnings, applied automatically — never fine print.

  8. Timing conflicts

Separates pairs that block each other’s absorption.

  9. Cycling rules

Flags supplements that need on/off periods instead of daily-forever.

  10. Synergies

And when a pairing genuinely helps, it tells you that too.

Tell us you have Hashimoto’s, and St John’s Wort never makes your list. Try to add it anyway, and you’ll know exactly why that’s a problem — before it’s in your cabinet.

Your plan

A plan, not a pile of pills.

It’s built in order — your health profile first, then your lifestyle, then the goals you came for.

  1. Your health profile

Your conditions, what your medications deplete, and anything you already take and want to keep.

  2. Your lifestyle

Age, sex, and how you actually live — diet, activity, caffeine, your fasting window, nicotine, alcohol.

  3. Your goals

The outcomes you picked at setup.

  4. Prevention and optimization

The fuller picture, if you want it.

Your plan size draws the line: Comprehensive takes all four.

  • Reasons on every pick

Tap “Why” on any supplement and get the actual reasoning: which goal it serves, what evidence backs it, why this dose and not another. If we can’t explain it, we don’t recommend it.

  • Doses set for your body

Age, sex, weight, pregnancy — the same supplement isn’t the same dose for everyone. Labels print one number. Your plan doesn’t.

  • Sized to your appetite

Essential, balanced, or comprehensive — you decide how much daily routine you’re actually willing to keep. A perfect plan you won’t follow is a bad plan.

  • Keeps what already works

Already taking things? Each one gets reviewed for fit. Keep what helps, adjust what’s off, drop what isn’t earning its place — with reasons, not judgment.

App preview: today's routine
Today's schedule split into Morning (3 of 3 taken, collapsed), Afternoon (Omega-3, 1000 mg with meal), and Bedtime (Magnesium and Ashwagandha, with a Take all shortcut), above the daily check-in card

Day to day

A routine your actual day can keep.

  • Timed for absorption

Iron away from your coffee. Magnesium before bed. Fat-solubles with a meal — and if you fast, the schedule fits inside your eating window.

  • One tap to log

Take, skip, or undo in a single tap. Works offline, syncs when you’re back. Logging your morning should take less time than swallowing it.

  • Watch the habit form

Weekly rings, a monthly heatmap, and a streak counter — adherence you can see, not guess at.

  1. Stack Score

    Your whole stack, graded.

One score, 0–100, across the four things that matter: Alignment with your goals, Safety, Optimization, and Essentials coverage. Under it, a short list of things worth a look — not a guilt trip.

App preview: the Stack Score screen
The Stack Score screen: a score of 89, Strong stack, with the breakdown — Alignment 100, Safety 88, Essentials 75, Optimization 90 — and per-supplement good-to-know notes
  2. Is it working?

The question every bottle ignores. Answered.

Thirty-second check-ins on sleep, energy, focus, mood, and physical comfort. Connect Apple Health or Health Connect, and your real sleep, heart-rate variability, and resting heart rate join the picture. Then the app compares the days you took something with the days you didn’t — and tells you what it sees.

And when the data is thin, it says so. “No clear pattern yet” is a real answer you’ll see in the app. We’d rather earn your trust than manufacture a conclusion.

Also in the app

  • Apple Health and Health Connect

Connect Apple Health, or Health Connect on Android, and your sleep, steps, resting heart rate and HRV sit beside your intake log — so you can see how your routine is landing in your body, not just whether you took it.

  • Medications on the same timeline

Your prescriptions sit in the schedule beside your supplements, because that’s how you take them — and it’s what lets the safety screen see the whole picture.

  • Face ID lock

Your conditions and your medication list are the most private things you’ll hand an app. Put them behind biometrics, not just a password.

Your data

Your health data is yours. Always.

Encrypted at rest. Never sold. Never shared. Your medication list is the most private thing you’ll ever give an app — it stays encrypted, and you can export or delete everything with one tap.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers.

Is this medical advice?

No. SupplementMD is an educational and organizational tool — it doesn’t diagnose, treat, or replace your doctor. Its content is written from the research and reviewed by medical doctors, but they don’t know you the way your own doctor does. What it does is make you a better-informed patient: when something in your plan deserves a professional’s eyes, the app says “review with your doctor” and means it.

I already take supplements. Do I have to start over?

No — tell the app what you take during setup. Each one gets reviewed for fit against your profile, then built into the plan: keep what helps, adjust what’s off, and see the reasoning either way.

Will it really catch interactions with my medications?

Every recommendation is cross-checked against a clinical interaction database covering 103+ medication classes — and re-checked when your medication list changes. It’s a screen, not a guarantee: for anything flagged, and for any medication change, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

What does it cost?

Building your plan starts free, and you can explore the full supplement and health library without paying. Premium unlocks the personalized layer — your fit verdicts, recommended doses, safety reviews, and insights. Try it free first.

What happens to my data?

It’s encrypted, it’s never sold, and it’s never shared. You can export it or delete your account — and everything in it — from inside the app, with one tap.

Which platforms and languages?

iPhone and Android, in English and Arabic — with full right-to-left support.

Five minutes of questions.
A plan you can actually trust.
